These Terms govern your use of DirtbagMaps (the "Service"), operated by Rtrosenberg ApS (CVR 38871250), Denmark ("we", "us"; our registered postal address is listed in the Privacy Policy). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
DirtbagMaps is an interactive map and planning tool for long-distance hiking trails and ultra-marathon routes. The core planner is free to use — you can explore and plan every trail without paying or creating an account. We may introduce optional paid features in the future (for example offline map packs or more advanced planning tools), and we may add, change, or remove features at any time; we will make clear what is included for free before asking you to pay for anything.
You can use the Service without an account. Optionally, you may create a free account to save favorite trails and stages, sync your markers, keep a private My Gear locker, and subscribe to our newsletter. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Product-link gear imports are best-effort and must be reviewed by you before use in planning. You may delete your account, and export your data, at any time from the account section. You must be at least 16 to create an account.
The Service contains affiliate links. If you purchase through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We are not the seller and are not party to any transaction between you and a third-party merchant. Prices, availability, and terms are set by the merchant, not by us.
Trail data (routes, distances, elevation, conditions, gear lists, and logistics) is provided for general planning and informational purposes only and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. You are solely responsible for your own safety. Mountain and backcountry travel carries serious risks, including injury and death. Always verify routes with official and local sources, check current conditions and permits, carry appropriate equipment, and assess your own fitness and experience before setting out. We make no warranty that any route is safe or passable.
You agree not to misuse the Service: no attempting to breach security or circumvent rate limits, no uploading of unlawful content, and no use that infringes others' rights or applicable law. Automated access that degrades the Service for other users — high-volume crawling, or bulk downloading of our own curated content (trail descriptions, photography, gear and logistics content) — is not permitted.
This restriction does not apply to any data we make available under the Open Database License (ODbL) or another open licence. Nothing in these Terms restricts, or purports to restrict, your rights under those licences; where these Terms conflict with an open licence covering a given dataset, that licence prevails.
The Service, its design, and its curated content are protected by intellectual-property rights and remain ours or our licensors'. Map data, imagery, and trail media are provided by third parties under their own licenses.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or any trail information, including during outdoor activities. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.
The Service links to and integrates third-party services (maps, merchants, affiliate networks). We are not responsible for their content, products, or practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.
We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes are reflected by the date above. We may suspend or terminate access for any user who breaches these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Denmark have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, except where mandatory consumer-protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
