PR 6.2 — Levada do Alecrim — the trail guide

The PR 6.2 — Levada do Alecrim is a 7.0 km trek in Portugal, typically walked in 2–3 hours, with 74 m of total ascent. It rates Easy on our published rubric (11 m of gain per km, topping out at 1330 m).

PR 6.2 follows the Levada do Alecrim east from the ER 105 above Rabaçal, on western Madeira's Paúl da Serra rim. The path runs beside the channel at roughly 1,250–1,330 m through UNESCO-listed laurisilva, ending 3.5 km in at the levada's nascente — the spring that feeds it. Walkers come for near-flat mileage, tree heather and dripping moss, and quiet: it sees a fraction of the crowds on the neighbouring 25 Fontes route. Return the same way; there is no loop.
