GR131 Fuerteventura — Corralejo to Jandía

GR131 Fuerteventura — Corralejo to Jandía — the trail guide

The GR131 Fuerteventura — Corralejo to Jandía is a 151.2 km trek in Spain, typically walked in 7-9 days, with 3629 m of total ascent. It rates Moderate on our published rubric (24 m of gain per km, topping out at 634 m).

Fuerteventura's GR131 runs the whole length of the island, roughly 155 km from the dune fields of Corralejo in the north to the Jandía peninsula in the far south. It is the longest and emptiest of the Canary crossings: old drove roads and volcanic tracks over rolling malpais, through half-abandoned villages, with the Atlantic rarely out of sight. There is little shade and little water, which is the whole character of the walk - this is desert island walking, not laurel forest.
